Today’s Parable

Search result for “most expensive chocolate” surrounded by eleven various search results for “twinkie.”

In order to keep a glutton from eating a very high quality chocolate truffle, just surround the truffle with lots and lots of twinkies. Maybe 1,000 or more twinkies in all directions would be best (the more twinkies the safer the truffle). Any glutton passing by will begin eating the twinkies, gorging and gorging on them until nauseous and fattened beyond mobility — all the while unaware that a very high quality chocolate truffle has been waiting in the center all along.

The story of Isaac

I don’t think Isaac’s realized the crate is for Penny. He thinks it’s a nifty new playroom

Buy all the toys… and he still wants to play in the cardboard box. Sigh.

Isaac tipped the laundry basket over all by himself, then climbed inside to play!

For some reason, Isaac loves nothing better these days than putting whatever toy he’s playing with or book he’s reading into a box or crate, then climbing in with it. Sometimes we carry him around!

Isaac, for some reason, really liked climbing in and out of one of the dog crates.

Angus Brangus

Beginning at my previous post on the cyberwoods, I discovered the website of a homemade mascot by the name of Angus Brangus. Angus is a friendly educational character who appears in the form of a dressed wooden mannequin. His goal is to teach others (namely Texans via the internet) about how to live thoughtfully and politely in America. Angus takes trips to the grocery store to watch for carts that are left unattended in the center of the aisle. One of his primary concerns is with “dead space” and the ways in which the misuse of public space can negatively affect others. Angus Brangus often quotes the philosopher John Stuart Mill in a hillbilly accent.

search for: “horizont”

“Here’s the French landscape painting I started a couple days ago. This is my first attempt at an Impressionist landscape painting, and also at creating a landscape at such a small scale (4″ x 6″). I mixed a gel medium with the acrylics to thicken the paints, creating a texture similar to oil paints. The technique was pretty fun, and resulted in a surface in which the brushstrokes were more visible than they usually are in my paintings. Working in this manner was a nice contrast from my usual smooth, photorealistic style of painting in realism. I look forward to trying a few more and seeing what happens!”
